Im confused?

Best answer: Why can't you do both? Be a doctor and write in your spare time. Living in New York - especially if you want to own an apartment in the city - is expensive. You'll have a much better chance of earning enough money to do that as a doctor than by trying to rely on your income as a freelance writer.

You could always compromise and become a dentist. A dentist who writes, minimalistically.

If you get good grades in your school, what I'd suggest is that you go to a good college, work at learning medicine, but minor in English. That way you can write through med school and submit your stuff for publication. If thousands of people are liking what you wrote, chances are a wider audience should like it too.

There's no reason to give up on either.

All very understandable feelings, but I'm not sure what your question is. Perhaps you could ask us a specific question that we could help you with?
